Entering Numerical Expressions and Fractions
These questions ask for numerical answers that are not whole or decimal numbers.

There are two ways to enter these types of answers:

1. Enter using calculator-style notation (see below)
2. After clicking in the answer box, click the yellow arrow that shows to the right of it to use the equation editor

Examples of calculator-style entry:

Enter	To get
2/5	`2/5`
sqrt(3)	`sqrt(3)`
5*10^6	`5*10^6`

Many students find it easier to use the equation editor. Watch this video to see how to use it.

In some cases, you can give a decimal approximation instead of an exact answer, but be sure to check the directions first.

Notice that when you click on the answer box, it says below the box to enter a reduced fraction answer. This question will only accept fractions, not decimal answers.

C) Enter the expression `5 * 10^6`

Notice that when you click on the answer box, it says below the box to enter the answer in scientific notation. This question will not accept the standard form of the number.
